Metagaming
Metagaming refers to utilizing information that a person's in-game character would not realistically know, drawing on out-of-character knowledge (OOC). Stream sniping, on the other hand, happens when a player watches another player's live stream and exploits the information they gain from it, whether to locate, harass, observe, or engage with the streamer in various ways.
Section 11: Metagaming
11.1 Stream Sniping and Metagaming:
Stream sniping/stalking and metagaming are strictly prohibited.
Participants must not act on information obtained through means other than direct roleplay (RP).
Information gained by watching streams or reading discussions must be kept separate from your character's knowledge.
11.2 Terminology:
Participants may not use terminology that circumvents the out-of-character (OOC) rule, such as referring to:
"Bodycam" (your stream)
Mentioning reporting to entities like City Hall or FiB
References to "the land of Discordia" or gods
This practice disrupts immersion for all participants, including streamers.
If you need to communicate something OOC, please use direct messaging (DM) to the relevant individual instead of interrupting the RP.
Refrain from compounding the immersion break by going OOC yourself. Instead, report the rule violation and continue with the RP.
11.3 Rulesplaining:
Do not explain the rules in character.
Avoid phrases like "You’re not really valuing your life right now" or "I have a gun to your head, ahahahaha. This guy."
Use alternative and more immersive ways to handle situations, such as "I’m gonna shoot you in the head if you keep moving."
Report individuals who break the rules or fail to value their life.
Do not compromise your RP experience for those who violate the rules, as administrators will address such issues.
